Getting Registered
Available public classes can be accessed through the Register for a Class option on our website.
If you are coordinating training for a business, organization, agency, or other group, use the Business & Group Training Request form instead so we can review your group size, scheduling needs, location, and course requirements.
Registration requirements may depend on the course and registration system being used. Participant information should be entered accurately so that course records, online learning, and certification can be associated with the correct individual.
Registration confirmation and course instructions will be provided through the applicable registration or communication system. Review the information carefully, especially if your course includes an online component that must be completed before class.
Contact us as soon as you realize there may be a problem. Do not assume that one CPR, First Aid, or BLS certification can automatically substitute for another.
Employers, licensing organizations, schools, and other agencies may have specific certification requirements. If another organization is requiring your training, it is ultimately important to confirm that you are registering for the course it requires.
Contact us as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel a registration. Available options may depend on the course, timing, seat availability, and any applicable registration or cancellation policy.
Course Information
Current offerings include American Red Cross® training programs such as Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, First Aid for Severe Trauma, and Basic Life Support (BLS).
Availability may vary by course date, location, and delivery format.
View Training ProgramsThe appropriate course depends on why you need training, your workplace or professional requirements, and the skills or certification your organization expects.
If an employer, licensing body, school, or other organization requires certification, confirm its specific requirement before registering.
Compare Course InformationBLS and standard CPR/AED courses are different programs designed for different audiences and requirements. Taking a more advanced or different course does not necessarily mean an employer, licensing body, or other organization will treat the certifications as interchangeable.
If the certification is required by someone else, confirm exactly which course or credential they will accept before registering.
Yes. Instructor-led courses include the hands-on skills activities required for the applicable course. Participants should be prepared to actively practice and demonstrate the skills being taught.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and participate in hands-on skills practice. Some course activities may require working from a seated, kneeling, or floor-level position.
Questions That Can Affect Course Completion
If your course requires proof that the online portion has been completed, online submission before class is preferred. This allows us to review your documentation in advance and helps make check-in easier on the day of training.
You may also print your completion documentation and bring a copy with you to the instructor-led session.
Submit Online Course CompletionFor a blended-learning course, the required online portion must be completed before you attend the instructor-led skills session.
If you arrive without the required online work completed, you should not expect to complete the instructor-led portion or receive certification that day. Contact us as soon as possible if you are having difficulty completing the online portion before your scheduled class so we can discuss the available next steps.
You are not expected to arrive already performing every skill perfectly. Instructor-led training provides instruction, practice, feedback, and coaching before course completion is determined.
Certification does require successful completion of the applicable course requirements. You must ultimately demonstrate the required skills to the performance standard established for the course.
If you are having difficulty, the instructor will provide appropriate coaching and opportunities to improve your performance within the course structure. If the required skills cannot be successfully demonstrated, you cannot be reported as having successfully completed the course and certification cannot be issued at that time.
No. For a blended-learning course, the online component is only one portion of the course.
You must also successfully complete the required instructor-led skills session and any other applicable course requirements before the course can be recorded as successfully completed and certification can be issued.
Arriving late can affect your ability to complete the course. Instructor-led training includes required course content, demonstrations, practice, and assessments that cannot simply be skipped.
Depending on how much of the course has been missed, it may not be possible for you to join the session and still satisfy the course requirements. In that situation, rescheduling may be necessary. If you know you are going to be late, contact us as soon as possible.
Participants must complete the required components of the course. Missing required instruction, practice, or assessment may prevent successful course completion.
If you need to leave unexpectedly or miss part of a session, speak with the instructor. Whether the course can be completed will depend on what was missed and the applicable course requirements.
Do not assume that completing one skills assessment means you have completed the entire course. Courses may contain additional required instruction, practice, assessments, or closing activities.
The instructor will let you know when all required course components have been completed and you are finished with the session.
Observation alone does not satisfy a course requirement that requires the participant to demonstrate a skill.
To successfully complete a certification course, you must personally satisfy the applicable course completion requirements, including required skills demonstrations and assessments.
If a disability or other accessibility need may affect your participation, contact us before class whenever possible so we can discuss reasonable accommodations while preserving the required course objectives.
Contact us before class whenever possible. We can discuss your accessibility needs and determine what reasonable accommodations may be available.
An accommodation can support participation, but it does not eliminate course requirements or required skill objectives. The appropriate approach depends on the specific course and your individual circumstances.
View Accessibility InformationParticipants do not all move, position themselves, or learn skills in exactly the same way. The instructor’s focus is whether the required skill objectives and performance criteria are successfully demonstrated.
If you have a physical limitation or accessibility need that may affect skill performance, let us know before class whenever possible. We can discuss reasonable accommodations while maintaining the applicable course requirements.
If a written assessment is a required component of your course, the applicable passing requirement must be satisfied for successful course completion.
Any review, remediation, or additional assessment opportunities must follow the requirements of the specific course. Your instructor will explain the applicable process if this occurs.
Do not wait until class starts to address the problem. Contact us as soon as you notice that your completion status does not appear correctly.
The Red Cross Learning Center is operated by the American Red Cross, so some account or technical issues may require Red Cross support. We can help identify the appropriate next step, but the required online component still needs to be completed and properly associated with your course before the instructor-led session.
Do not assume that an online course purchased or completed separately can automatically be combined with one of our skills sessions.
The online component must be the appropriate component for the specific blended-learning course and must be properly associated with the required course record. Contact us before registering if you have already completed online training elsewhere.
Contact us as soon as possible. Completing the online portion does not by itself complete the course or issue certification.
Whether you can move to another skills session will depend on the course, available sessions, applicable time requirements, and our registration or rescheduling policies.
Online + Instructor-Led Training
Blended learning combines an online learning component with an instructor-led skills session.
For American Red Cross blended-learning courses, the online component is completed through the Red Cross Learning Center before attending the instructor-led portion.
Yes. When a course requires online learning before the instructor-led skills session, that required component must be completed before attending the in-person portion.
If your course requires proof of completion, online submission before class is preferred. You may also print your completion documentation and bring a copy with you to class.
Submit Online Course CompletionThe Red Cross Learning Center and its online course content are operated by the American Red Cross. If you experience a technical or accessibility issue, contact us and we can help identify the appropriate Red Cross support resource.

If we cancel a class, registered participants may choose either a full refund to the original payment method or transfer their registration to another available class at no additional charge.
A confirmed class may occasionally need to be canceled or rescheduled because of instructor illness, severe weather, facility problems, safety concerns, equipment issues, or other circumstances that prevent the course from being conducted as scheduled.
Some public classes may require a minimum number of registered participants before the class is confirmed to run.
We will make that decision far enough in advance to reduce unnecessary disruption for registered participants. If a class is canceled because minimum enrollment has not been reached, you may choose a full refund or transfer to another available class at no additional charge.
When less than 48 hours’ notice is provided, a refund is generally not available because training space, instructor time, equipment, and the participant’s seat have already been committed.
One transfer to another available class may be permitted when you contact us before the originally scheduled class begins.
Exceptional circumstances may be reviewed individually.
If you do not attend and we are not contacted before the scheduled class begins, the registration fee is generally forfeited and a transfer is not guaranteed.
If you know you cannot attend, contact us as soon as possible so we can review any available options before the class begins.
If Applied Response Training cancels the class because of weather or unsafe conditions, participants may choose a full refund or transfer to another available class.
If the class is still being held but conditions affecting your route or location reasonably prevent you from traveling safely, contact us as soon as possible. We will generally work with you on a transfer to another available class.
Our Training & Registration Policies provide additional information about registration, cancellations, transfers, minimum enrollment, attendance, blended learning, course completion, weather, accessibility, refunds, and other training-related expectations.
